4WD TREK

If you are looking for a great time, great company, and a chance to see some of the most rugged areas of Victoria, then join us on the Variety 4WD Trek!

The 2011 4WD Trek commences at the Croydon Special Developmental School on Friday 25th March and heads off in search of the "Colt from Old Regret". Travelling through the Toolangi State Forest onto the Strathbogie Ranges, we will explore the huts and hills of Mansfield. As our journey takes us further and deeper into our ‘High Country Heritage' we will experience first-hand the hardships our mountain cattlemen and women had to endure in their efforts to farm this wild country.

Remnants of historical and once grand Homesteads, evidence of meek existences etched out in a harsh and quickly changing climate.

Will we find the ‘Colt from Old Regret'? Maybe not, but we will leave this place with a greater understanding, appreciation and respect of a time past and a time yet to come...

2011 THEME - SUPERHEROES!

Four official vehicles travel on the event, one "Sweep" and mobile workshop, one official car with a Variety representative and ambulance officers, one "Scout" to make sure the road ahead is safe and one communications vehicle to make sure we are all in touch.

Each entrant receives a 4WD Trek Bible that details the route, driving notes, accommodation, catering and general interest information on the areas we are visiting.
