Variety AFL Great Grand Final Luncheon 2007

On Wednesday 26th September the Palladium Room at Crown was yet again host to another fantastic Variety event.

Now in it’s 24th year the Luncheon has reached a new high with over 1000 guests attending and monies raised in excess of $100,000. Guests were entertained by celebrity MC Sam Kekovich and a fantastic football panel hosting Malcolm & Campbell Brown with Luke and David Darcy. Lisa Edwards sang the National Anthem and Professor David De Kretser and his wife attended for the second year in a row.

Variety presented AFL Adelaide Crows legend Andrew McLeod with the Heart of Football Award, while the Young Sports Achiever Award was presented to Caitlin Agnew. As a surprise item Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu lead a rousing rendition of the Geelong football club song. John Elliott and Sam Kekovich kept the guests amused with their satirical humor and the day would not have been complete without our very own Mike Brady closing the luncheon with his famous footy songs Up There Cazaly and One Day in September.

Next year's event will be just as huge. Remember to put this date in your diary: Wednesday September 24, 2008, and stay tuned for ticket details.
