On the Wednesday before Grand Final, the Palladium at Crown will be transformed by football mania as media, celebrities, the football fraternity and eager lunch-goers all converge to make this the football lunch of the year.

The annual Variety Young Sports Achiever Award will be presented to a special young person who has overcome physical disabilities to achieve the level of success in a sporting arena, equivalent to an able bodied child. We will also be presenting The Heart of Football Award to a person in the football fraternity who has continually displayed outstanding commitment to children. This year the Award will recognise a current AFL player who has upheld these values and has inspired Variety through his selfless actions and dedication to children. Past recipients have been Paul Dimattina, Glenn Archer, Matthew Richardson, Xavier Clark and Andrew McLeod.

Now in its 27th year the AFL Variety Great Grand Final luncheon has become a Melbourne social institution, raising over $500,000 to provide much needed support for Victoria's Special Needs Children.
