"I just wanted to write and say thankyou to everyone involved in the Splash 2010. We were very excited to get the phone call from HeartKids inviting us to attend on Thursday. Both my boys (Thomas and HeartKid William) and I had a fantastic day! We found ourselves on Biddy-Hu-II with the most wonderful crew. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and I was extremely impressed with the way Paul got the boys involved in the workings of the yacht.

The whole experience was wonderful. Thanks for all the wonderful work that Variety do in raising funds for children like William and other important community needs. It is such an important thing for so many different people and also for William who will require several major heart surgeries through his life. It is a nice way to get out and forget about those things such as hospital visits and tests. Thanks for a wonderful day Paul, Jodie & crew and also to Variety."

"We would like to think that the third time we would be lucky weatherwise. But Mother Nature was again playing with 'Team Laafin!' To reach our destination at Docklands for the 2010 Variety Splash we left Newhaven at 3.40am on Saturday and only had three hours of calm weather! This was our third year of participating in the Variety Splash and all members of the team were happy and proud to again be part of this event.

Together as a team, we managed to raise close to $10,000 for Variety, the children's charity. Over the last three years, Team Laafin has donated over $28,000 to Variety. We are coming back in 2011, with the aim to achieve above our record of $10,300. As a very small team, we are extremely proud of our achievement."

VARIETY SPLASH 2011

The 2011 Variety Splash is beginning to take shape with the launch being held at Riva at St Kilda Marina at 6.30pm on Thursday 15th July, 2010. This event is open to anyone who has ever been on the Splash, supported you on the Splash, or is thinking about joining the event in the future, so please invite your friends, family and work colleagues!

Variety Splash 2010

The Variety Splash is similar in style to the infamous Bash, where the focus is firmly placed on having fun.

Variety Splash consists of a three day and two night rally on Port Phillip Bay and is open to power and sail boats, commencing in Waterfront City Docklands, with the first leg taking Splasher's to Sandringham Yacht Club while enjoying entertainment and stopovers throughout the day and finishing with an evening of fine food, entertainment and great company.

The following morning Splasher's will travel across the bay to Royal Geelong Yacht Club where Friday evening will unveil another spectacular function and night to remember.

On the final morning, a lazy breakfast will be enjoyed by all followed by a leisurely approach back to Waterfront City, Docklands where an amazing finishing line party will take place.

As with all Variety events, the Splash too has a serious side. Its primary objective is to raise money for children in our community with a wide range of special needs.

Monies raised goes towards Sunshine Coaches (minibuses) for children's organisations, Liberty Wheelchair Swings for council playgrounds, specialist communication devices such as Dynavox machines and mobility equipment like wheelchairs and Second Skin Splints.By taking part in this wonderful event, not only will you have the time of your life but you will be instrumental in helping bring sunshine into the lives of many very special children.
